Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard stars Jasmine Ellis Cooper and her husband, Silas, are expecting their first child!
The soon-to-be new mom posted on Instagram that her “mom-era is loading.”
“My “mom-era” is loading and my heart is so full right now,” the 31-year-old wrote. She continued, “Silas and I will be welcoming Baby Cooper February 2024! This journey has been nothing short of incredible and I’m happy to share this major blessing with People and now you🫶🏾👶🏾 Counting down until we meet baby boy. Our first stop? #Bravocon2023 Baby!”
In an exclusive interview with Essence Magazine, the Bravo TV reality star sat down with the popular entertainment news outlet to discuss how she’s feeling about the next chapter in her life, what she’s most nervous about when it comes to being a new boy mom, and who among her castmates would she tap to baby sit.
“I think there’s no real way to prepare for one spouse serving overseas while the other is preparing to bring life into the world, but military families do it every day,” Cooper told Essence when asked how she is feeling preparing for this next chapter in life.
She continued, “There are three expecting fathers deployed with Silas right now who will also miss the births of their children, so it’s a shared sacrifice. All we can do is take it day by day and trust that we’ve put in the work to receive this blessing.”
Cooper is excited at becoming a new mother and feels like her babysitting experience has well-prepared her for motherhood. However, what does make her nervous is the fact that she does not want her husband, of one year, to feel like he is missing out due to the fact that he is deployed.
“Fortunately, we’ve both had prior experience caring for cousins and younger siblings. At this moment, Silas is excited about being the best role model and champion for our son. Right now, I’m nervous about Silas coming home feeling out of place or that he missed everything. I text him sonograms and heartbeat recordings from my ultrasounds or nursery designs, so he feels like he’s here every step of the way.”
In terms of babysitting duty, just which one of her castmates would Cooper tap to lend her a hand and babysit? Well, with such a large family, it doesn’t look like she will need to call in help from her Bravo TV family.
“Logically, the folks in New York would be the first people we would call. Fortunately, our son will be born into a large family, with six grandparents who will adore and support him. So, I doubt we’ll have to phone our Summer House family.”
Congratulations, Jasmine and Silas! We cannot wait to see first pics of the new addition to your family.
