Kevin Gates has come underfire for letting his 10-year-old daughter drive without wearing her seatbelt.
On Monday, Kevin Gates posted a clip on his Instagram account that showed him teaching his daughter Islah how to drive.
In the caption of the post, he wrote,”When you love what you have – you have everything you need – These moments are the ones worth more than anything to a Father #islah says I’m a pretty cool dad – I love you all.”
In response to the video, there were mixed reactions from his followers. Some praised his approach to teaching her to drive, with one comment saying, “That’s the way to teach her in a big vehicle, you learn in that, you can drive anything !!This is a life skill , glad y’all teaching her early.”
However, others expressed concern about Islah’s safety, saying, “This cool and all but bra put her seatbelt on.”
Kevin Gates, known for his unfiltered and direct communication, responded, “I don’t raise pu&*y’s.”
Gates and his partner, Dreka Gates, are proud parents of two children: a daughter named Islah and a son named Kazah.
In addition Kevin Gates has taken on a fatherly role in the lives of some of his friends’ children as well.
“I got some children. I’m real real close with them. I lay in the bed with them, hold them, love on them”, he shared with Complex in an interview.
He continued, “It really doesn’t make sense to say [how many kids I have]. Not in a bad way, but it’s not like the public will ever get to see my children, and if they do see them, they aren’t going to know they’re mine.
Gates further explained in an interview with HotNewHipHop, “I got partners that got life sentences at a young age and I had to step up to the plate and take care of their children. I’ve always been a caretaker of young people.”
