MIAMI TEEN IS ACCEPTED TO ALL 8 IVY LEAGUE SCHOOLS

First generation Nigerian-American, Ashley Adirika has joined an “exclusive” club. The Miami teen has been accepted to all 8 Ivy League Schools, among others with over $4 million in scholarship offers.

The 17-year-old humbly posted on Instagram, “Never stop dreaming. I’m beyond blessed and grateful to have been accepted to some of the most prestigious universities in the world with over $4 million worth of scholarship offers. I’m also extremely appreciative of every individual who has poured into me throughout my journey: family, educators, friends, mentors, coaches —- you all have had a profound impact on me.”

She continued, “To every underrepresented person fighting to thrive in spaces that weren’t designed for us—- keep applying pressure, keep shaking the room, keep making your own table.”

According to Business Insider, getting accepted into all 8 Ivy League schools unquestionably puts Ashley in an exclusive club. “…[t]he chance of one high school student getting accepted into one U.S. Ivy League school can range anywhere from five percent to 15 percent, depending on the school.”

Ashley has openings at Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Yale. The teen told CNN that she, “… just decided to shoot my shot at all of them and see if it would land. And I had no idea that I would get accepted into all of them…On Ivy Day, I remember crying a lot and just being extremely surprised.”

Ashley will follow in the steps of Yara Shahidi and call Harvard University home in the Fall. However, Harvard wasn’t her first choice.

“Before the college application process, Yale was actually my top choice,” she said in an interview with USA Today. “But when I did further research for what I want to do specifically, which is explorations in policy and social policy and things of that nature, Harvard just had a better program.”

Ashley also got accepted into seven additional upper-echelon schools, including Stanford, Vanderbilt and Emory.

At Harvard, Ashley is planning on studying government. Congratulations! We cannot wait to see what the future holds for you!
