Coko Clemons and Brandy are doting moms! The veteran R&B singers recently took to social media to celebrate their kids singing alongside vocal legend Stevie Mackey.
“And they say R&B is dead,” producer Steve Jones said after watching a clip from the vocal segment that featured Sy’Rai singing her mom’s hit single, ‘Almost Doesn’t Count.’ Jones went on to say, “[The] next gen is coming hard. @syraismith @jayyemichael covered their mothers respective classics.”
It is no surprise that both Brandy’s daughter and Coko Clemons’ son, Jalen Clemons are phenomenal singers. The young adults, after all, have two of the best teachers to help guide them in the area of song delivery.

Both Coko and Brandy were overwhelmed to see their kids hold their own weight during their respective sessions with Stevie Mackey. “I need a cigarette,” Coko wrote online after watching the segment featuring her son. “Sing it, baby,” the doting mom exclaimed.

Brandy wrote, “My heart is melting. That’s her first time ever doing something like that especially on the spot. I didn’t even know she knew ‘Almost Doesn’t Count.’ Thank you for showing her so much love @theyhavetherange and a big thank you to @steviemackey x @iamstevejones for being such great role models for her. Mommy is so proud @syraismith.”
In addition to singing, Sy’Rai and Jalen are making their mom’s proud through education and public speaking. It was just a few days ago that Sy’Rai made her television debut on The Real where she discussed her weight loss transformation. Sy’Rai was honest and dropped gems about self-confidence and body positivity that made her mom beam.
“What an amazing human being,” Brandy wrote online after the segment aired. “I love your spirit and your smile,” the celebrity mom told her daughter. “So brave to walk in your purpose and shine in your truth all up on @therealdaytime Your smile.”
