Juelz Santana’s wife, Kimbella, is leading the charge to get him released from jail. Supporting her cause is rapper Jim Jones, who both say that Santana deserves to be home with his family amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Julez, whose real name is Laron James, pleaded guilty to weapon possession by a convicted felon and carrying a weapon on an aircraft in August 2018. The rapper was sentenced to 27 months in prison for the charges in December 2018. Since then, Julez has served 13 months of his sentence. The current coronavirus pandemic, however, has prompted Kimbella and Jim Jones to petition Santana to serve out the remainder of his sentence on house arrest.
“Laron James needs to be freed during this pandemic to be with his family,” the petition’s description reads. “He is currently on lockdown for two weeks because of the COVID-19 virus outbreak,” the note continues.

“He has served 13 months at FCI Petersburg and should be allowed to serve the rest of his sentence on home confinement. BOP and Honorable Judge Chesler can make this happen for Laron. He is a good husband, father, son, brother, friend and has a positive media influence as a legendary rap artist.”
It was just a few weeks ago that Kimbella celebrated the possibility of her husband being released from prison early. “This year was tough and it made me even stronger,” the Love and Hip Hop: New York (LHHNY) star said. “We got through it together as a family,” Kimbella told her Instagram fans. “We’re finally at the finish line and gearing up for Juelz [to] return home. Starting a whole new chapter once he’s back.”
The coronavirus pandemic has prompted United States Attorney General William Barr to release inmates in prisons hard hit by COVID-19. Kimbella and Julez Santana have three kids together. Kimbella also has a son from a previous relationship. You can sign the petition to #FreeJulezSantana here!
