Idris Elba’s wife, Sabrina Elba, has tested positive for coronavirus. The diagnosis comes days after Idris tested positive for the virus.
“I could have made the decision to put myself, maybe, in a separate room or stay away, and I’m sure that people are making those decisions,” Sabrina recently told Oprah Winfrey of her choice to remain in close contact with Idris even after he was diagnosed last week. Some fans who watched the actor share the news of his health wondered why Sabrina was right by his side, given the ability of the virus to quickly migrate from one person to the next.
“I made the decision to want to be with him and, you know, still touch him,” Sabrina said. Idris Elba also chimed in on the matter of spatial distancing as suggested by concerned fans.
“If I had caught it, she had certainly caught it in that time period, as well,” the actor said. “People were right to have highlighted that spatial distancing is important,” Idris added. “I think given the context of the video, which was telling the world what has happened to us, we weren’t thinking about that specifically.”

Idris Elba shared his diagnosis of coronavirus last Monday (March 16). The actor decided to get tested after coming into contact with someone who had the illness. “I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus,” Idris said. “Stay home people and be pragmatic,” the actor advised.
