“A part of my heart will always be at UCLA figuratively and literally,” Shareef told his Twitter fans earlier this week. “I’m looking forward to the next chapter, wherever that may be,” he added.
Some may remember Shareef’s health struggles in 2018. The young athlete underwent heart surgery as a life-saving measure. Shareef expressed his appreciation for the doctor’s discovering his health issue before the condition progressed to something worse. Still, the youngster had to take time off from playing basketball for the UCLA Bruins to recover.

“A year ago today I was scared for my life,” Shareef said a year after his health scare. “A year ago today I was learning how to walk again,” the young athlete revealed. “A year ago today I was turned into a new kid. A year ago today my life changed.”
“I thought I was going through hell while dealing with this process but then I realized it was a blessing that it was found. I am very grateful for my health today and I will always be… I want to thank my family and friends for everything they did also. This year has been a big struggle and I’m still finding my way back into things.”
Shareef is one of five children that Shaquille O’Neal parents with his ex-wife, Shaunie O’Neal. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
