According to the Mayo Clinic, depression is twice as likely to affect women as it does men. With her new superhero doll, artist Tiffany J has taken on the mission to help ensure that young black girls have help to combat depression.
“As a child, I was super shy, intimidated, and a lonesome personality. I suffered badly with depression and had thoughts of suicide multiple times as early as 12 years old,” Tiffany J shares on the brand’s website.
The plush Super Beauty doll will hopefully give young girls a friend to help them embrace their beauty while simultaneously promoting self-confidence. The doll, available August 2018, will come loaded with 20 positive catchphrases and affirmations, empowering owners who are mentally and emotionally affected by a myriad of triggers including bullying.
In addition to the doll, Tiffany J has published the first book in the Super Beauty Children’s Book Series entitled, Super Beauty Saves the Day. However, Tiffany J will not stop there. The talented artist also plans on creating a digital cartoon movie, bedroom décor, coloring books, and more in hops that Super Beauty can help stop young girls from becoming another statistic.
