Yara Shahidi is probably one of the most prolific individuals of Generation Z. From acting to modeling to activism, this talented teen does it all. Recently, the Grown-ish star sat down and spoke with Oprah during her upcoming TV special, Oprah at the Apollo, explaining how she plans to encourage her generation to join her in changing the world.

“Our generation realizes that age has never been a limit in terms of social activity and being able to look back at the civil rights movement and see that it does not matter how old you are to get engaged,” Yara said during the taping at the Apollo Theater, according to Entertainment Tonight. “If anything, it is so important to make it our mission, especially if you have the privilege to do so, to be socially aware and to help our global community.”

Shahidi, who recently turned 18 on February 10th, shared that she will team up with Eighteen X ’18 in order to encourage teens to become politically involved and get out and vote; therefore, turning their activism into “quantifiable action.”
