Holly Robinson Peete hopes to spread more than blue lights during this month of autism awareness. The actress took to social media on Thursday to encourage individuals to show compassion to those living with autism.
“When my son was diagnosed with #autism in 2000 there was no #WAAD,” shared Holly along with a picture of herself with Rodney Jr. “It is my hope though that we spread #autismacceptance and #autismservices as well as awareness! As our young children with autism age out and become adults they need so much compassion… they need jobs, community, safe places to live …they need love and support.”
Holly went on to explain the type of support that individuals living with autism need, and encouraged fans to lend a helping hand. “TOO many families struggle underneath the financial weight of autism which is simply too expensive to live with,” said the celeb mom. “Please remember to support families who cannot afford to live with this disorder,” added Holly. “Be compassionate and supportive to an autism family.”
Holly and husband Rodney Peete Sr., have four children together. Rodney Jr., is the couple’s oldest son.
