NBA player Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, and his family attended Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards 2014 at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion on July 17, 2014 in Los Angeles, California. Pictured to the far left of Ron and his kids is young star Kwesi Boakye.
The 2014 Kids Choice Sports Awards show was the first of its kind where kids honored their favorite athletes, teams and sports moments from the year in one big, slimy sports celebration. “I love when kids vote. Kids are smart. Kids are the future. Kids should always vote,” Metta said in an interview on the orange carpet.
Awards were presented to Kevin Durant for Best Male Athlete; Gabby Douglas for Best Female Athlete; Russell Wilson for Favorite Newcomer; Dez Bryant for Favorite Catch; Tim Howard for Best Save; and Serena Williams for Biggest Cannon. Dwyane Wade and Gabby Douglas took home the King and Queen of Swag blimps, while Carmelo Anthony nabbed the Clutch Player of the Year. Victor Cruz won the ‘How to Party Like a Sports Star’ award.
