Diggy Simmons,19, is prepping for his new role as a lead actor. The teen star revealed earlier today on Twitter that he will be starring in a new BET series called The Start Up.
“Not only have I been excited about this new music that’s on the way, I’m also very excited to announce that I have a new scripted television show titled #TheStartUp that has been picked up by @BET and will be going to series!”
He continued, “Last night was the @BET Upfronts and I was accompanied by 2 of my beautiful cast mates @TeyanaTaylor and @Bria_Murphy to represent the show. I’m super excited to be apart of the BET family and can’t wait for everyone to see #TheStartUp! Last night marked a historical day in our journey.. And we’re only going up from here! Thank you Ms. Debra Lee![SIC]”
According to a 2012 Deadline report, The Start Up was originally a comedy pilot/original movie starring Simmons and a close group of his friends. The BET film was said to star Diggy Simmons as the main character Blake,Teyana Taylor as Tiana, Bria Murphy (daughter of Eddie Murphy) as Nia, and Allen Maldonado as Manuel.
No word yet as to when the television series will debut.
