Joe Budden and his longtime girlfriend, Shadée Monique, have two big reasons to celebrate: they’re expecting a baby girl and are officially engaged.
The couple shared both announcements over the weekend while celebrating Joe’s 46th birthday with family and friends.
Shadée had planned to surprise the podcast host with the news that they were expecting a daughter, but Joe had a surprise of his own.
“We have a little surprise,” she told guests before announcing, “Yeah, Joe’s going to be a girl dad.”
Joe later got down on one knee and proposed.
“We doin’ it or what?” he asked.
“Of course we are,” Shadée replied.
The mom-to-be later shared photos and video from the celebration on Instagram, admitting that she thought she was the one holding the night’s biggest secret.
“And the whole time, I thought I was the one with the big surprise…announcing that we’re expecting a BABY GIRL!” she wrote.
The new arrival will be the first child for Joe and Shadée, who have been together since 2019, and the first daughter for the rapper-turned-podcaster.
Joe is already dad to two sons, Trey and Lexington. He welcomed Trey when he was 20 years old and later had Lexington with his ex-fiancée, Cyn Santana, in December 2017.
Over the years, Joe has been candid about how his relationship with fatherhood has evolved, particularly after missing much of Trey’s childhood.
“I was an absentee father for so long, so now, for me to be so heavily involved in my kid’s life and just talking to him, seeing things through his eyes, his friends, that whole world, it’s changed everything,” he said in a 2016 interview with Ambrosia For Heads.
With Lexington, Joe has been able to experience stages of childhood that he missed with Trey.
“I’m around Lex who I’m around at an age that I didn’t see my oldest son in,” he said during an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast. “I missed these times. I’m getting different experiences is all I’m saying.”
Shadée and Joe recently celebrated seven years together. The Houston entrepreneur is also part of his podcast world and co-hosts Pod Wives, which features the partners of several members of The Joe Budden Podcast.
No due date for their baby girl has been announced.
