General Hospital star Sawandi Wilson is a new dad!
The actor and his wife, Anna Eilinsfeld, have welcomed their first child together following a frightening delivery that Wilson says nearly cost both his wife and baby’s lives.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Wilson shared a video in which he told the harrowing story of what he called “Day 0” of fatherhood. He began by thanking the medical team at Cedars-Sinai for getting his family through the ordeal.
“You guys are incredible,” Wilson said. “You saved my baby’s life, you saved my wife’s life, and you saved my life.”
The experience was especially surreal for Wilson, who plays Dr. Isaiah Gannon on General Hospital. Despite spending his workdays portraying a doctor, nothing could prepare him for what was unfolding in the delivery room.
“This is real life, and I’m ready to meet my baby,” he recalled.
As a doctor led him toward his wife, Wilson saw blood on the floor and even caught sight of her intestines before reaching her.
Despite everything happening around her, Eilinsfeld was awake and calm. When Wilson finally got to her, she had one request.
“First thing she tells me is, ‘Tell me a story,’” he said.
Caught completely off guard, Wilson searched his mind for anything that might distract them from what was happening. He thought about Spider-Man, his first trip to an amusement park and whatever else he could come up with in the moment.
Before he could get very far into the story, doctors delivered their baby.
“They pull the baby out. And she’s barely crying,” he said.
Wilson later reflected on becoming a father in the caption of his post, writing, “The biggest role of my life starts now. No script. No rehearsals.”
Wilson and Eilinsfeld revealed they were expecting in May. They announced that their first child was due in August and shared photos that included a sonogram and their dog, Brando, wearing a “Big Brother” bandana.
“Brando has been an only child for long enough,” Eilinsfeld wrote at the time. “Baby on board — due August 2026.”
The couple tied the knot in Philadelphia in December 2024. Wilson joined General Hospital that same year.
