Mykal-Michelle Harris,14, attended the world premiere of Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on June 9.
The actress stepped on the red carpet wearing a checkered pantsuit paired with bold green accessories, oversized glasses, and a pearl necklace.
After the premiere, Harris took to Instagram to share her excitement about being part of the latest installment of the beloved franchise.
“I genuinely do not have words for tonight. #ToyStory5 world premiere. My castmates. The @dolbytheatre. #TaylorSwift. #RandyNewman. LIVE. It in fact WAS infinity and beyond. #Blaze #Thankful @pix”
The young star voices Blaze, one of the newest characters joining the Toy Story universe. According to Entertainment Weekly, Blaze is a ranch-raised girl who lives with her family in the same home once owned by Emily, Jessie’s original owner.
Harris described the character as a free-spirited horse lover who fully embraces her interests.
“I would describe Blaze as a spunky, funky, equestrian horse girl,” Harris exclusively tells Entertainment Weekly. “She was raised on a ranch with her family, and she’s never afraid to be herself. She’s an older kid, but she’s not afraid to play with toys or to have a whole bunch of horse figurines. That’s kind of her thing.”
Blaze’s passion for horses leads to an immediate bond with Jessie, the franchise’s beloved cowgirl toy, and her horse, Bullseye.
“Blaze finds Jessie and Bullseye after a series of unfortunate events, and she immediately takes a liking to them,” Harris explained. “She obviously loves Bullseye because he’s a horse, and she loves Jessie as a cowboy. She immediately uses her in her playtime, and they have an instant connection, an instant bond.”
Toy Story 5 reunites fans with Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack) and the rest of the gang. The film also stars Greta Lee, Craig Robinson, Conan O’Brien, Matty Matheson, Shelby Rabara, and Krys Marshall.
The highly anticipated film arrives in theaters on June 19.
