“I’m going to start out today because I have some fun news from over the weekend. My family welcomed Lotus Dean to the world. She’s 6lbs., 3oz.,” she announced.

As a photo appeared on the screen behind her, Goldberg pointed it out and explained, “That’s Lotus and Ruby [the dog]. She is, that’s her dad — my grandson, Mason.”

Her co-hosts immediately jumped in with excitement. “He looks in love,” Sunny Hostin said. The Sister Act actress replied, “Yeah, that’ll change.” Alyssa Farah Griffin followed with a warm “Congratulations,” while Whoopi simply took a breath and repeated what she seemed to still be processing, “It’s a wonderful thing. It’s a wonderful thing. This is my second.”

Ana Navarro then noted that the milestone extended to Goldberg’s daughter as well. “And congratulations to Alex, who is a grandmother again,” she noted, referring to the entertainment legend’s only child, Alex Martin.

Whoopi couldn’t help but toss in a funny line. “I don’t think about that, I simply think about myself,” she joked. “Cause I never thought I’d have two great-grandkids. To be there for that.”

As the co-hosts continued chatting, Sunny asked what her new great-grandbaby might call her. Whoopi was quick on the response. “No, they call me Whoopi — cause I’m not the grandma! I’m the great grandma! So just Whoopi.”

Sara Haines then chimed in with an impression of Whoopi’s first great-grandchild, saying, “Oopi, sit down!” the Ghost actress laughed, explaining, “She couldn’t say her Ws, so I was ‘Oopi’ for the longest time. So we’ll see. But I think this one, she’s ready to get stuff done.”

Photos of the family’s newest addition flashed across the studio screens as the co-hosts admired her wide-open eyes. “So alert!” Sunny remarked. Whoopi nodded proudly. “Yes, she’s very alert.”

Goldberg first became a great-grandmother in 2014 when her eldest grandchild, Amara Dean, welcomed her daughter, Charli Rose. At the time, Goldberg shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, “I wasn’t your normal grandmother, and I’m not going to be your normal great-grandmother,” and made her stance on her future title clear, “She better call me Whoopi.”

The actress and comedian is now a great-grandmother to two children and a grandmother to three grandchildren: Amara Dean, Jerzey Dean, and Mason Dean.
