MARIAH CAREY MAKES RARE COMMENT ON CO-PARENTING TWINS WITH NICK CANNON

Mariah Carey is offering a rare glimpse into her co-parenting dynamic with ex-husband Nick Cannon.

In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the Grammy-winning singer opened up about raising her 14-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, alongside Cannon, whom she divorced in 2016 after eight years of marriage.

“How do I say this? They spend time with him, and they have a good time; they spend time with me, and they have a good time,” the 56-year-old shared. “I want to make sure I’m always fair about the situation because it’s tough to grow up with divorced parents.”

Despite no longer being a couple, Carey and Cannon have maintained a friendly relationship while co-parenting their children, affectionately known as “dem kids.”

“They’re a lot, but they give me so much love in return. I wouldn’t be the same person without them,” Carey told People Magazine back in 2019. “I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk.”

The twins have inherited their parents’ artistic flair, and Carey previously expressed support for their potential paths in entertainment.

“I think they’re both very talented and smart, and if they want to pursue having a life as an entertainer, then I think they should,” she told People in December 2023. “It’s a hard kind of life, but they seem to really love performing, so I’m happy for them.”

Cannon also showed his love for his firstborns earlier this year, celebrating their 14th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram tribute. Instead of a traditional birthday party, the twins opted for a unique experience with their friends.

“Happy Birthday to my Firstborns! 14 years old!!! Somebody slow this thing down!!! Please!!!” he wrote. “They didn’t even want a birthday party!! They said they are too cool for that! LOL.”

He continued, “So instead they had the entire @thebasementescaperoom experience all to themselves and they had a blast!! Scary and mindblowing to say the least but Roc & Roe and their friends loved it! And they let the old man tag along as a chaperone! I love you guys with everything I got and beyond!! Here’s to another trip around the Sun!”

In addition to Moroccan and Monroe, Cannon is also father to ten additional children. Cannon’s other children include: sons Golden Sagon and Rise Messiah Cannon and daughter Powerful Queen whom he shares with Brittany Bell; twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; and daughter Onyx Ice Cole with LaNisha Cole. Cannon also father two children with Alyssa Scott — son Zen, who died at five-months-old in December 2021 from brain cancer, and daughter Halo Marie Cannon, who was born in December of 2022.

Carey and Cannon continue to prioritize a loving, stable environment for their twins, even from separate households. And of course, it definitely shows!
