Mariah Carey’s parenting style has played a powerful role in keeping her twins, Monroe and Moroccan, grounded despite growing up in the spotlight. How she does it may surprise you, but it seems to be definitely working!

We have all read the articles from the experts about which parenting style seems to be the best. Well, songstress Mariah Carey seems to have figured this parenting thing out with simply just being the “cool mom.”
“I’m going to have to quote ‘Mean Girls’ and be, like, ‘I’m not a regular mom. I’m a cool mom.’ There are no rules in this house,” Carey, 52, exclusively told Us Weekly in a previous interview. “No, there are rules in this house, that’s the difference. Like, I want to be that — I don’t like being the bad guy, I have to say. I really don’t, like, I hate that more than anything. So, you know, I do want to be, like, ‘I’m not really a mom, I’m a cool mom.’ But you’re never a cool mom, like, you just never are.”
The 56-year-old co-parents her twin 14-year-old’s with multi-hyphenate entertainer, Nick Cannon. In a previous interview with People Magazine, Carey explained that she and Cannon co-parent pretty well together and have managed to remain friends through the process.
“I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk.” She told the outlet at the time.

In addition to Monroe and Moroccan, Cannon is also father to ten other children by five women.
Cannon’s other children include: sons Golden Sagon and Rise Messiah Cannon and daughter Powerful Queen whom he shares with Brittany Bell; twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; and daughter Onyx Ice Cole with LaNisha Cole. Cannon also father two children with Alyssa Scott — son Zen, who died at five-months-old in December 2021 from brain cancer, and daughter Halo Marie Cannon, who was born in December of 2022.
