R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan is opening her heart to fans in a deeply personal way.
In a birthday post shared to Instagram, the Grammy-winning singer revealed that she recently suffered a miscarriage.

“Whew.. thank yall for ur birthday wishes. Leading up to my birthday has been incredibly hard as I’ve been thinking abt my mother and missing her more than words can say,” the multiple Grammy-award winning singer began her post.
Sullivan’s mother, died in July of 2023, after a four year battle with breast cancer. As the “I Need U Bad” singer continued sharing, she revealed she had a miscarriage two months earlier. “Also as I realized I woulda have been holding my 2-month-old son that I never got to meet,” she wrote. “So needless to say I’ve been down bad.”
The 38-year-old concluded, “But yesterday I had a massage that helped to release some of the deep pain I’ve been holding in for a while. So I am grateful for that. I’m also grateful that so many of you think of me and take time to write! It’s all so beautiful!!. Please continue to pray for me as I heal from life’s a$$ whooping.”
Since her mother’s passing, Sullivan has been open with fans about her grief. Around her birthday last year, she shared that she had been trying to stay busy to avoid the sadness, but realized grief doesn’t really work like that.
“I tried so hard to keep busy for my birthday to distract myself, but I don’t think it works like that. I cried all month. I’ll cry the rest of my life. But I’ll also smile, laugh, and dance in between the tears! So thank God for that!”
Jazmine Sullivan is known for her amazing vocals and emotionally powerful music. She caught the eye of millions across the world as she became a fan favorite on American Idol, even catching the eye of legendary Motown great, Stevie Wonder.
