California wildfires have forced Joie Chavis to make tough decisions about her future.
The model and entrepreneur, who shares three kids with Bow Wow, Future, and NFL star Trevon Diggs, recently took to social media to share the emotional toll the disaster has taken on her and her family.
“Yes. Where I live, only three other properties around me survived that fire. Everything around us burned down,” Chavis revealed. “I have been contemplating moving for months but didn’t want to because of the kids finishing this year of school. But, their school is gone.”
The situation has left Chavis and her family in limbo, with no clear timeline for returning home. “There is no power where I live, so who knows when I’ll be able to return. Even then, I’ll be returning to gather our things and move. Just pray it stops,” she added.
Despite the devastating circumstances, Chavis is leaning on her faith to stay grounded. “Prayer and my faith is the only thing keeping me sane. I’ve had to buy everything, literally, to get by each day—clothes, toiletries, etc. Although it’s an inconvenience, it’s not nearly as bad as the people that have lost their homes. It’s heartbreaking,” she shared.
Caught off guard by the wildfires, Chavis recounted how quickly everything unfolded. “I left home last week to work out, taking nothing, thinking I’d be right back. Was never able to go back. Even if I wanted to get out of LA right now, I can’t. My ID is home, thinking I’d use Apple Pay if needed. Ugh. My anxiety is through the roof,” she wrote.
Now, Chavis is seriously considering relocating for good. “Honestly, it’s time to get outta here for good. LOL. I’m weighing my options with my realtor and talking with my family about it,” she explained.
