Taye Diggs and his 15-year-old son, Walker, made a stylish appearance at the Critics Choice Association’s 7th Annual Celebration of Black Cinema and Television on Dec. 9, 2024.
Held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, the event celebrated Black excellence in entertainment—and the father-son duo brought their A-game to the red carpet.
Walker, whose mom is Broadway legend Idina Menzel, looked sharp in a sleek black suit and a white button-up shirt. Meanwhile, Taye showed off his signature flair in a light gray double-breasted suit, a burgundy shirt, and a tan hat, proving he’s just as fashionable as he is talented.
Last month, Walker stepped out to support his mom at the star-studded Wicked premiere on Nov. 9. The hit film, released on Nov. 22, is the movie adaptation of the iconic Broadway show where Menzel famously played Elphaba, earning her a Tony Award.
Diggs and Menzel, who met while starring in Rent on Broadway, married in 2003 and welcomed Walker in 2009. Though they split in 2013, the pair has remained committed to co-parenting their son. Menzel has since remarried, tying the knot with actor-turned-therapist Aaron Lohr in 2017.
Taye recently opened up to People about parenting his teenage son, calling it both “fun” and “humbling.”
“I try not to show him how excited I am just when he says three words to me, but it can be difficult,” Diggs joked, adding, “It’s very humbling because I feel like a 12-year-old girl that’s out with a senior boy. Anything I say could ruin the date. I’m so tentative.”
Despite the occasional awkward moments, Diggs is savoring every moment. “It’s a trip. I’m an adult and I’m hanging on every word of this 15-year-old. It’s fun. It’s really, really fun and eye-opening,” he shared.
