PHAEDRA PARKS’ KIDS SUPPORT HER ON ‘DANCING WITH THE STARS’

Phaedra Parks had two special people to cheer her on during her latest performance on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Her sons, Ayden, 14, and Dylan, 11, supported their mom as she danced a beautiful Rumba on “Dedication Night” with professional partner, Val Chmerkovski.

The mother-of-two took to Instagram to credit her own mother, in addition to her sons, for being “the wind beneath her wings, [teaching] her to soar.”

“A mother’s love is the wind beneath her child’s wings. So grateful I have a mother who taught me to soar!” she began her caption of a carousel of images of she and Chmerkovski’s performance, among others.

“So thankful she was able to see her favorite show live and dance through me. I am me because of her. A huge thanks to my sons, siblings, @omarosa @nowthatsmajor and @theonlytookie for coming out to support me.”

After their moment on the dance floor, Phaedra, Chmerkovskiy, and he sons caught up with Entertainment Tonight for a post-performance interview.

The brothers were asked by the news outlet how they felt watching their mother dance. Ayden replied that, “She makes me so proud every time.” While his Dylan said that he couldn’t contain his excitement the night before Phaedra’s performance. “Yeah, I couldn’t sleep last night.”

Earlier this year, Phaedra spoke exclusively to People Magazine about the things that she is trying to instill into her boys as they grow into young men.

“These kids are so different from us. They’re moving at an incredible speed because of social media. But I try to explain them, ‘You have your whole life to do all of these things, but you only have a small window to be a child and be carefree.’”

“So that’s what I try to make sure that they know — this is the time of your life because I’m paying for everything,” she continued. “I’m footing the bill, and you’re living very luxuriously. So you need to enjoy that moment, if that makes sense.”

She went on to concluded, “I’ve raised two very good boys. I’m a very traditional Black mother, so I’m a strong disciplinary — I don’t take any junk. What I say is what I say and I mean what I say when I say it. So I’m very old school with my parenting. I believe raise a child in the way it should go and it will not depart. Even when you depart from them, they still know those good principles that you taught them. So I don’t really worry about them.”

The Georgia attorney shares both boys with her ex-husband, Apollo Nida.
