Singer Robin Thicke is sharing “very valuable” parenting advice that “usually works” with his own children.
During an interview with Nessa on her Hot 97 Radio Show, Thicke emphasized the importance of teaching kids to make good decisions
“I had some therapy sessions, you know, with co-parenting and things like that and I learned something very valuable about the most important thing you can teach your kids is to make good decisions,” Thicke said.
“Because we are not going to be there all the time when they need to make a good decision and that’s what you really want to impart upon them is quality decision making throughout their whole life.”
Nessa went on to ask the “Blurred Lines” singer just how can parents accomplish what he is suggesting,
To which he responded, “Be aware. And pay attention. You know, they’re gonna struggle with things. They’re gonna have weaknesses at times. They’re gonna have their strengths and their weaknesses so anytime I see something going in the wrong direction, I focus, I pinpoint it.”
Thicke went on to say that in addition to being “aware” of what is going on with their children, parents need to be ready to jump in and help when needed. “My son’s having trouble reading in school? I’m going to read with him. If my daughter’s having trouble with this, I’m going to do it with her.”
Robin Thicke is a father of four. He shares his eldest son, Julian, 14, with actress Paula Patton. The 47-year-old shares his youngest three children: daughters, Mia Love, 6, and Lola Alain, 5, as well as son Luca Patrick, 3, with fiancé April Love Geary.
