In a world where culinary creativity is often associated with seasoned chefs and gourmet kitchens, a new wave of culinary talent is emerging from an unexpected place: young people. These days, kids are expanding their interests, proving that age is no barrier to gastronomic genius. Among those who can call themselves a budding chef is Jennifer Hudson’s son, David Otunga, Jr. Recently, in an interview with People Magazine, the EGOT-winner talked about her new partnership with the dish washing liquid, Dawn, and praised her son’s impressive cooking skills.
The mother-of-one shared with the news outlet how much she’s loving her time in the kitchen with her son, especially now that they’ve swapped roles. “Oh baby, he cooks down!” the 42-year-old said in her interview. “And as a parent watching the shift, one minute you’re doing the cooking or preparing the food and all of that, and now, he’s the master of the kitchen.”
Hudson continued saying that, “He’ll tell me, ‘Mama, you wash the dishes. Mama, you set the table,’ Now, that’s my job,” she laughed. “It’s amazing to see how much quickly they grow.”
The daytime talk show host went on to say that her son and his seven cousins, often experiments with new recipes inspired by TikTok and cookbooks, turning cooking into a fun and creative family activity.
“Well, you know these children and these TikTok trends and recipes. He comes up with different things all the time. Not only do I have my son, I have him and seven of his cousins. It’s a bunch of boys, going off of TikToks or recipe books and cooking up all these different things.”
Hudson beamed mentioning that David’s own palate is as diverse as his array of recipes.
“My son, he loves everything. He loves his steak. We love making pizza together, which is something that’s so fun. He takes that over! And any dish that he comes up with from TikTok, he makes it, and then I have to taste it all. Luckily, he’s a good cook, so it turns out okay.”
In addition to sharing her family kitchen experiences, Hudson also talked about her partnership with Dawn. As part of their collaboration, she is supporting an initiative to save wildlife. Starting today, September 17, shoppers can visit www.dawnducks.com to download a $1 coupon for Dawn Platinum EZ-Squeeze, with Dawn donating $1 to the International Bird Rescue, up to $100,000. Hudson, stars in a new commercial with the Dawn ducklings, expressed her enthusiasm for the campaign, highlighting her love for animals and her long-standing relationship with the brand.
