LIAM QUIRING-NKINDI TO VOICE CHARACTER IN NEW SERIES, “BARNEY’S WORLD”

If you or your children were fans of the lovable purple dinosaur, Barney, from Barney & Friends, then, get ready to rejoice. The 1992 hit television franchise is making a comeback and talented young actor, Liam Quiring-Nkindi, is set to voice a character in the new series, Barney’s World.

The young Canadian actor took to Instagram sharing a carousel of images and video, excitedly annoucing his latest project.

According to Deadline, the new series will show during Cartoon Network’s preschool block, Cartoonito. The series will also be available for streaming on Max. Barney’s World will be co-produced by Mattel Television and Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana.

“Barney’s World perfectly exemplifies our ‘best in animation’ approach. It strikes the right nostalgia chord for today’s parents and introduces this iconic dinosaur to a new generation of preschoolers,” Michael Ouweleen, president, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Discovery Family, and Boomerang, told Deadline. 

Fred Soulie, senior vice president and general manager, Mattel Television, added, “Having grown up watching the original series, many of today’s parents have fond memories of laughing, singing and learning with Barney and his friends. We are proud to partner with Warner Bros. Discovery to reimagine this famed brand and bring a fresh and modern version of Barney to a global audience of families.”

So just what can this new generations of fans expect from this upcoming revival series? Well, check out a brief synopsis below from Deadline.

With all the heart and comfort of the original iconic dinosaur, Barney’s World is modernized with dynamic characters and music-filled storylines that highlight themes of love, community, and encouragement. Set in a local playground, Barney is joined by dinos Billy and Baby Bop and their three kid best friends. Throughout silly and imaginative adventures together, Barney helps kids explore big preschool emotions and shows them how to love themselves and others.

Mark your calendars and get ready to hopefully hear that familiar theme song on October 14. The series will debut on the 14, on Max, and then premiere on Cartoon Network on the 18.
