LeBron James and his son, Bronny, are not only father/son, but they are teammates, working in a professional athletic setting together. While in Paris for the 2024 Olympics, the all-star athlete sat down with Paul Rivera from The Shop to discuss a plethora of topics with the Los Angeles Lakers forward, and among them, what does Bronny call him at work. LeBron has decided whether or not calling him “dad” on the court is appropriate or not.
Rivera asked whether or not the rookie Los Angeles Lakers guard will be allowed to call him “dad” on the court, to which the elder James responded, “No.”
“No, we already laid that,” the father-of-three said vehemently. “Cannot call me ‘Dad’ in the workplace. Once we leave out of the private facility and the gates close, I can be ‘Dad’ again. In the car if we ride together, at home, I can be ‘Dad.'”
The 39-year-old went on to give his son a few suggestions of what he can call him at work. “No, he got to call me, like, ‘2-3’ or ‘Bron,'” he said. “Or you know, ‘GOAT’ if he want to. It’s up to him.”
The crowd laughed and LeBron concluded saying that, “We cannot be running down the court, and he be like ‘Dad, push the ball up!’ ‘Dad, I’m open! Dad, come on!’ You cannot do that.”
Bronny and his father had a history-making moment when the teen and his dad became the first father-son duo to play in the NBA together as a result of the Los Angeles Lakers drafting the younger James as the newest addition to their team. Bronny inked a 4-year-deal to play on the team.
The19-year-old signed a $7.9M rookie deal, the same day his father inked his extension.
In addition to Bronny, James is also father to two additional children: son, Bryce, 17, and daughter, Zhuri, 9.
