A few months ago, Halle Berry and her ex-husband, Oscar Martinez, agreed to attend “co-parenting therapy” to better help them parent their son, Maceo-Robert Martinez. Well, fast-forward, in recently filed court documents, obtained by People Magazine, Berry is asking the court to intervene in their “co-parenting” agreement, alleging that Martinez isn’t seeing the co-parenting coach as previously agreed.
In Berry’s new August 1 court filing, she claims that the 58-year-old French actor, “unilaterally terminated” the coaching sessions, without advising Berry or the coach. Also in the filing, the Oscar-winning actress claims that Martinez “has chosen to repeatedly violate agreements and court orders with careless regard.”
The Monster’s Ball actress added that her ex-husband’s “conduct harms” their son and the thier “already strained relationship.”
Berry’s continues stating that, Martinez hasn’t complied with an of the co-parenting sessions because he “took the summer off” and pushed back sessions until September.
Per Berry’s filing, the actress states that he ex, “refuses to complete the necessary paperwork that would allow the coparenting therapist to speak to necessary third parties.” Berry said that Martinez was the one who wanted to pursue co-parenting therapy only as a way to “delay intervention at all costs,” in addition to “interfer[ing] with Halle’s relationship with Maceo without repercussion.”
As a result of Berry’s current claims, she asked the court in her filing to “enforce Oliver’s compliance.”
Judge Shelley Kaufman has denied Berry’s request due to “lack of exigent circumstances.”
In addition to Maceo, Berry is also mom to 16-year-old daughter Nahla Ariela, with whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry.
We truly hope that both Berry and Martinez can quickly come to some resolution regarding successfully embarking upon the co-parenting therapeutic journey. There is nothing more important than making it work for their child.
