Nine-year-old Journeyy Belton is truly one gifted and talented young rising star. The self-taught musician stunned judges on a recent episode of America’s Got Talent auditioning with an original song, entitled “Paradise.”
Upon finishing his song, the talented preteen got a standing ovation, saying in his backstage interview, that, he had no idea that sharing videos of him singing on social media would lead him to the AGT stage.
“I just didn’t expect that me recording videos at my house would lead to me being here right now. When I grow up, I want to be a pop singer.”
In actuality, according to judge Simon Cowell himself, it was a friend of his that reached out to the show about Journeyy’s talent. Journeyy’s friend told the judge that “he had to see this video.” Cowell told Journeyy that they sent the video to production and low and behold, production had already found him. It was indeed fate for him to audition on the show!
Before taking the stage, Journeyy had a backstage chat with judge Howie Mandel. Madel asked the young musician a few lighthearted questions, including which AGT judge he liked the best.
When Journeyy mentioned that Simon was his favorite judge. Upon hearing that, judge Heidi Klum tried to sway him to her side, but the young singer remained steadfast in his choice, Simon Cowell for the win.
In addition to writing and performing original music, Journeyy also performs covers of various artists including Adele, Bruno Mars, and many others for his over 100K followers on just Instagram alone.
Journeyy’s trip to AGT was full of “firsts” as it was the fist time that the New Jersey-native had ever been on a plane. Well, Journeyy will be back in the air on his way back to Los Angels as the judges have advanced him to the next round of auditions. Unfortunately, we will have to wait to see what he performs as the next round will not premiere until after the 2024 Paris Olympics.
