Following the announcement that he and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, are expecting their third child, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback had some lighthearted comments during a recent training camp press conference
Joking with reporters about managing his numerous responsibilities with a growing family, Mahomes laughed and said, “I’m done. I’ll say that. I said three and I’m done.”
The Super Bowl champion went on to admit that for him, fatherhood is “awesome.”
“I always wanted to have kids young,” he said. “I got to grow up in the locker room, I think I’ve talked about it before — it made such an impact in my life, so I wanted to have kids young.”
Mahomes already shares two children: three-year-daughter, Sterling Skye Mahomes and 18-month-old, son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, with his wife, high school sweetheart, Brittany Mahomes.
The NFL star is unquestionably proud of his wife and touts the fact that he calls her the MVP of mothers where ever he goes.
“I think people don’t even realize how much she does. Taking care of the day-to-day stuff and making it so where I can focus on football, focus on my craft and everything like that,” he said in a recent interview on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast. “Just being a hall of fame mom and a hall of fame wife.”
Mahomes added, “It makes things a lot easier … when you get to come home and your best friend is there. You can just hang out. It makes you want to be there all the time and so, she pushes me to be great. She’s done a lot of great things herself.”
The couple announced that a third child was on the way on July 12 in an Instagram reel, via a joint post. The duo captioned the post, “Round three, here we come,” followed by a single purple heart.
