If you were a kid in the early 2000s, then you unquestionably remember the Disney’s hit series, Wizards of Waverly Place, starring Selena Gomez. Well, get ready for Disney to bring back the magic as the series has been rebooted and is starring actress, Janice LeeAnn Brown.
Just what can fans expect from the upcoming reboot? Well, according to Deadline.com, below is a synopsis of the action.
The revival pilot comes from writers and executive producers Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas who are behind another Disney Channel comedy spinoff, Raven’s Home. It picks up after a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has left his wizard powers behind, opting for a normal, human life with his wife and two sons. But he gets a surprise when a powerful young wizard in need of training shows up at his door… and Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World.
“Wizards of Waverly Place captivated hearts with its spellbinding adventures and big laughs, creating unforgettable memories for kids and families everywhere,” Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said in a statement. “We can’t wait to step back into the magical world of Wizards, inviting longtime fans and a new generation to experience the enchantment alongside Selena, David, and our incredible cast and crew.”
In addition to Janice, who will portray the young wizard Billie, in the series, Disney is bringing back OG originals, Selena Gomez (Alex Russo) and David Henrie (Justin Russo).
New cast members for the upcoming reboot include: Alkaio Thiele will be Roman Russo, Justin’s older son, Max Matenko, his younger son, and Mimi Gianopulos is Justin’s wife, Giada.
If young Janice’s face looks familiar, it should. The talented young actress’s resume includes a plethora of credits that include small screen television shows, shorts, and more.
You have seen her in projects such as: black-ish, Euphoria, Do You Want to See a Dead Body, Just Roll with It, among others.
Wizards of Waverly Place production is underway and, although we don’t know quite when the magic will return to TV, when it does, it will be on Disney+.
