Khloe Kardashian is once again facing scrutiny for her parenting choices. Recently, the 39-year-old is having to defend herself for allowing her six-year-old daughter, True, to wear heavy makeup for a dance recital.
The Good American co-founder recently shared a series of images on Instagram, showcasing the adorable dancer alongside her cousins, Dream (7) and Chicago (5), during their recital. The post included photos, a video of the recital, and a heartfelt caption celebrating the girls’ achievements.
Kardashian wrote, “My girls had their dance recital yesterday! Year 3 done. I can’t believe they already have done three years of dance. Life is moving quickly. They did two dances this year- Ballet and hiphop.”
“I am so so proud of them! They were absolutely perfect. obviously none of our girls wear makeup like this regularly. This was for the recital only. They are beautiful just as they are. Yesterday was super special. memories for a lifetime,” she continued.
Kardashian emphasized that the makeup was specifically for the recital, stating, “Obviously none of our girls wear makeup like this regularly. This was for the recital only. They are beautiful just as they are.”
However, many of those in the court of public opinion took to the comments criticizing the mother-of-two for allowing her daughter to wear such “strong make up.”
“Wow, such strong make-up for children,” wrote one person.
“Lipstick on a child,” added another, followed with a crying face emoji.
“The face full of makeup is so sad,” a third user said.
Many also came to the defense of the entrepreneur and reality star.
One person commented, “It’s sad you even have to specify about the makeup, but I understand why. Gorgeous little dancers!” Johnston received over 11K likes on the post, including Kardashian herself! (Know, we really do know that Hulu star reads the comments.)
Kardashian even responded to the fan saying, “@jadejohnston01 it is but people are cray cray. So I had to explain,” she continued,”@jadejohnston01 obvi I would hope no one would do this normally to a 6 year old.”
A few weeks ago, Kardashian was slammed for allowing her daughter to become one of the new faces for the pajama brand, Zip N’ Bear.
It seems that no matter what she does, Kardashian can’t escape the public’s judgment. Yet, as many have pointed out, her actions are not unusual for a dance or pageant mom. One social media user aptly summed it up, saying, “… It’s normal for children, both boys and girls that dance or perform in the arts wear makeup!!”
In addition to True, Kardashian also shares son, Tatum Thompson, with NBA player, Tristan Thompson.
