North West, daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, made her theater debut at the Hollywood Bowl on May 24th, 2024. The event was a tribute to Disney’s animated classic, The Lion King, held at the iconic Los Angeles venue.
North took on the role of young Simba, performing the lively musical number “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King.” For her portrayal of the lion cub, the 10-year-old wore a warm yellow zip-up sweater and shorts set with furry slippers and matching fur framing the hood of her jacket.
Jason Weaver, who originally performed the song, introduced her as “Miss Miss Westie” and announced her “Hollywood debut,” inviting the audience to welcome “the brilliant North West.”
Weaver later praised the young starlet on Instagam, writing, “What an honor it is to share the same stage with this young superstar in the making!! I’m so PROUD you, North!! You’re doing a such PHENOMENAL job in this show! I can’t wait for people to see your performance of “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” when “The Lion King 30th Anniversary Celebration” eventually starts streaming on @disneyplus!! You’re a true professional, and I wish you nothing but the best as you continue your journey towards GREATNESS!!”
Both North’s parents were in attendance. Kanye was spotted filming North as she sang, while Kim shared clips on her Instagram stories.
The young singer’s grandmother, Kris Jenner, was also present at the show, as well as her aunt, Kourtney Kardashian, who had husband Travis Barker in tow.
North was one of two special guests in the live-to-film 2-day event. The star-studded lineup of performers included Billy Eichner, Heather Headley, Jason Weaver, and Jeremy Irons, and more.
EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson was the other special guest who took the stage in the live production for a rendition of the Elton John award-winning classic “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.”
The preteen’s presence in the show comes as no surprise as she previously expressed in an interview for I-D magazine her love for performing, saying, “I like singing. Performing is my favorite.”
