Iggy Azalea and Playboi Carti’s son, Onyx, isn’t so little anymore! The adorable tot just turned four, and his mama went all out to make sure it was a birthday to remember.
Taking to Instagram on April 29, Iggy gave fans a peek into the festivities with snapshots from Onyx’s Bluey-themed party. Decked out in Bluey swimming trunks and goggles, Onyx was the star of the show, surrounded by his family and friends.
In a video, Iggy raised a toast to her son, saying, “Cheers to Onyx. Happy Birthday, Onyx. We love you.”
The day was packed with fun-filled activities as guests enjoyed everything from hitting Bingo piñatas to going down water slides
Of course, no birthday bash is complete without blowing out the candles, and Onyx did just that on his Bluey-shaped cake.
Since welcoming Onyx into the world in 2020, Iggy has made it her mission to shield him from the spotlight, prioritizing motherhood above all else.
In an interview last year, the rapper opened up about her decision to step away from music, citing her desire to protect her son from the prying eyes of the public.
“My decision to not make any more music is ultimately, really at this point, truly 95% of it is about the fact that I just don’t feel that I am comfortable being that level open to the public,” she shared in 2021. “Maybe it’s partially because I have a son now and I feel that maternal instinct to want to really protect him and have that safe space. And I don’t really want to invite strangers to have an opinion about my life so much anymore.”
Protective mama bear mode fully activated, Iggy selectively shares glimpses of Onyx on her social media, ensuring that only those closest to her get to witness his adorable antics.
“I post him on my close friends’ stories on Instagram. So everybody I want to see Onyx is seeing Onyx all the time,” Azalea revealed. “It’s not that it necessarily hurts my feelings, I’m a grownup, but it’s my job to protect my son as a mother. So when I see something like that, that’s so extreme, I would love to share them all the time, but that wouldn’t be really me protecting him knowing that that’s what’s going on, so I can’t do that.”
