A week ago, Jeezy and Jeannie Mai made front page news as the rapper filed for primary custody of his two-year-old daughter, Monaco. Fast-forward, and in a new motion that is before the court, the 46-year-old is clarifying his primary custody request for his daughter.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Jeezy is now seeing joint custody of his daughter with a parenting schedule.
The media outlet states that in a new motion, Jeezy is asserting that Jeannie Mai is restricting his access to their daughter, additionally stating that she has moved out of the marital home and he doesn’t know where they live, which is a violation of their original agreement.
The “Seen It All” rapper is also claiming that Mai has blocked his phone number and he is no longer able to FaceTime with his daughter.
Although the “Soul Survivor” rapper originally wanted primary custody of his daughter, insiders state that he originally wanted to share custody with his estranged wife all along.
Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, and Mai wed in a small ceremony at their Atlanta home in March of 2021.
In a statement obtained by NBC News, back in October of last year, was the first time that Jeezy spoke of his separation from The Real co-host.
“The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart,” his statement began. “Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains, and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”
“Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship, and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves. During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”
We hope that both Jeezy and Mai can come to a civil co-parenting relationship soon. If not for themselves, then unquestionably for the benefit of their adorable daughter.
