Ashanti has confirmed that she is pregnant and expecting her first child with Nelly. In addition, the singer has revealed that she is engaged to her longtime love.
“This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,” she tells Essence. “Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”
But that’s not all. Ashanti also revealed that she and Nelly have joined forces as co-owners of Proov, a diagnostics company founded by Amy Beckley, PhD. Proov offers at-home tests designed to assist individuals in their journey toward conception. These medical-grade tests aim to help those seeking to start or expand their families by identifying potential barriers to conception.
The couple’s relationship has had its ups and downs, but their recent reunion has sparked joy among fans. After being spotted together at various events and sharing flirtatious performances, speculation about their reconciliation grew.
Nelly confirmed the news during an interview last fall with Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta stars Kirk and Rasheeda Frost, revealing that their reunion was unexpected but welcomed.
“Yeah, we cool again,” he said during an interview last fall with Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta stars Kirk and Rasheeda Frost. “I think it surprised both of us, though. It wasn’t anything that …[was] planned. I think we’re both pretty much doing what we do.”

While this will be Ashanti’s first child, Nelly is already a seasoned parent, with four children, including a daughter, son, and two adopted children from his late sister.
