Ray J Norwood and his wife, 39-year-old Princess Pilipina Love Norwood, aka Princess Love, have filed for divorce on several occasions. Now on their fourth filing, the multi-hyphenate entertainer and entrepreneur is asking the court to grant him joint custody of the couples two children.
In court documents obtained by People Magazine, the younger brother of singer Brandy Norwood, has not only requested joint legal and physical custody of five-year-old daughter, Melody Love Norwood, and four-year-old son, Epik Ray Norwood, the 43-year-old is also requesting that unspecified assets between the couple, such as “miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects,” be split 50-50.
“There are additional separate property assets and obligations of the parties, the exact nature and extent of which are not presently known,” the filing stated.
Princess Love took to Instagram at the end of February to announce that the couple has decided after eight years of marriage to finally go their separate ways.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our decision to divorce. After much reflection, discussion, and counseling, we have come to the difficult realization that our paths have diverged, and it is in the best interest of both of us to part ways,” a picture of her written statement began.
“We want to reassure you that this decision was made thoughtfully and with mutual respect and consideration for each other’s well-being. While our relationship as spouses may be coming to an end, we remain committed to co-parenting our children and maintaining a positive and supportive family dynamic.”
The VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood personality’s statement continued for two additional paragraphs ending, “Thank you for your understanding and support.”
Ray J is being represented by high-powered celebrity divorce attorney, Laura Wasser. In addition to joint custody and the equal division of assets, the singer is also asking that he and Princess Love each pay for their own attorney’s fees.
Ray J and Princess Love were married in August of 2016 after four years of dating.
