During her Celebration tour, the 65-year-old Queen of Pop played London’s O2 arena and told the audience that her children “saved” her. Madonna’s children frequently join their mother on stage to which she admitted was an “honor” for her to share the stage with them.

“It’s such an honor for me to not only perform with my children every night on the stage but also pay tribute to his mother and hopefully everyone’s mother,” she said. “We all have motherly connections with one way or another… My children always say to me, ‘Thank you mom for giving us a better life’, and I say to them, ‘No you, you saved me.'”

The “Papa Don’t Preach” songstress went on to encourage her fans to “make a difference” in the world.

“In these dark and crazy times, we have to remember that even if our heart is breaking, they cannot break our souls, she told the audience. “Each and every one of us have the opportunity to turn our light on, we are each a candle in the world, so take the opportunity to be a light in the world and you will make a difference.”

Madonna adopted David in 2006 when he was 13-months-old from a village in Western Malawi. Mercy was adopted in 2007 at the age of four. The singer adopted her twins in 2017 where they lived in the Home of Hope orphanage in Mchinji until their adoption.
