A few months ago, Teyana Taylor alleged that her estranged husband, Iman Shumpert, was neglectful and endangered their two children, Junie and Rue, while they were in his care. Now, the singer is alleging that the ex-NBA athlete hasn’t paid “one cent” in child support since leaving their family home. Well, Shumpert is vehemently denying the singer’s latest claim against him.
Taylor recently filed a motion, asking the court to hold Shumpert in contempt as a result of her latest allegations. In the filing, she alleges that the 33-year-old, has not paid, “one cent of child support … for anything for the minor children such as food, clothing, shoes, grooming, extracurricular activities, or anything else, other than the oldest minor child’s tuition.”
Shumpert in addition to his denial, per court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, is petitioning the court to reject Taylor’s motion to have him held in contempt as a result of this latest allegation.
The father-of-two stated that Taylor’s statement wasn’t true that he failed to provide financial support for his children, “as confirmed by the complete absence of any request by [Taylor] for a temporary hearing, temporary child support, or temporary relief of any kind until she filed this [recent] motion.”
Shumpert’s attorney added that, “The likely reason why [Taylor] has not demanded child support is because [Shumpert] has handsomely provided financial support for his children and his family, including but not limited to providing a luxurious home and utilities. [Shumpert] denies that he has obstructed any efforts toward settlement of this case by agreement.”
Taylor and Shumpert married on October 1, 2016. The couple first filed for divorce in January 2023, but put it on hold, deciding to attempt marriage counseling. After they found their efforts unsuccessful at producing a reconciliation, they decided to continue with divorce proceedings.
A judge has yet to rule on these latest accusations.
