TODAY Show host and author Hoda Kotb is bringing hope and and positivity to children via her latest book, “Hope is a Rainbow“. In a new interview with Parents.com, the mother-of-two talked with Anna Halkidis about her new book, hope, parenting, and positivity.
“I want kids and parents who read this just to be reminded that we’re all going through stuff—your littlest child to your oldest parent, we’re all going through it,” she said in the interview. “I think that there is hope and there is something on the other side that’s waiting for us.”
“It’s not just that the storm will pass, but the storm will pass and you’ll have a rainbow.”
Kotb shares her two children, seven-year-old Haley Joy and four-year-old Hope Catherine, with ex-Joel Schiffman. Therefore, the 59-year-old unquestionably knows how important it is to encourage children to embrace and follow their dreams, while remaining positive and optimistic along the way.
“Hope is a promise. In dark there is light, billions of stars that shine in the night,” Kotb writes in the book.
The theme and messages conveyed in “Hope is a Rainbow” are especially relevant now, as children and adolescents across the nation are facing mental health challenges at an emergency level, as reported by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
So, just what do Kotb’s beautiful daughters think of their mother’s successful literary career? Well, according to the New York Times bestselling author, “My girls have an aversion to any book that I’ve written about them or for them,” she joked with Parents.com.
Kotb went on to describe the reaction of her youngest daughter to the book’s title. “She knows how to spell her name and she was like, ‘Is that me?’ She almost couldn’t believe it was her name on this book,” Kotb said. “And I said, ‘Well, Hope is your name and it stands for a lot of things, too.’”
