DDG is opening up about his unexpected journey into parenthood with his partner, Halle Bailey. During a recent appearance on The Jason Lee Show, the 26-year-old rapper and YouTube star confessed that their pregnancy was not something they had planned.
“That kinda just happened,” DDG explained when asked by Lee about becoming a first-time father. “I ain’t gone lie…we weren’t aiming for a baby, but it just kinda happened. What are we going to do?”
“Both of us have the same interest in being parents,” he continued. “And I feel like she always wanted to be a mom. We always kind of just give off that energy, and I always wanted a kid. So, from there we just made the decision to go through with it.”
Initially, the couple kept their pregnancy under wraps to “minimize stress on Bailey.”
DDG added, “I think it was more so like, people was already giving us negative vibes so it’s like, why let them know and then let them make her pregnancy stressful?”
Now that their son Halo has arrived, DDG and Bailey are gradually sharing more about their journey to parenthood.
While Bailey has been sharing glimpses of her pregnancy on social media, DDG went a step further by creating an official Instagram account for their newborn son.
Despite having just one post, baby Halo has already garnered a substantial following eagerly awaiting updates about his adorable milestones.
During the GRAMMY U Masterclass held during Grammy week earlier this month, Bailey stated that motherhood has helped her reach a new level of maturity.
“I feel like I’ve reached this new level of maturity, especially being a mother now, which is so crazy to say,” Bailey shared. “It has opened up a whole new can of worms for me, honestly. I am obsessed with my baby. It’s insane.”
It appears as if both DDG and Bailey are truly proud parents and cannot get enough of their little one. Halo is one lucky little guy!
