As Jay-Z accepted the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, he seized the opportunity to express gratitude and share a heartfelt moment with his daughter.

“Thank you very much. I used to say it was a sippy cup for Blue, but Blue’s grown up now; she doesn’t take sippy cups. And she has her own Grammys,” he exclaimed.

Meanwhile, Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé, was spotted in the audience, cheering on her husband and daughter. Despite winning numerous 32 Grammys, Beyoncé has yet to win the coveted Album of The Year award.

Jay-Z took a moment to address the Recording Academy during his acceptance speech, expressing disappointment over their failure to recognize his wife with the Album of the Year award.

“We love y’all… at least get it close to right. And obviously it’s subjective — y’all don’t gotta clap at everything — obviously it’s subjective because it’s music and it’s opinion based. But some things you know… I don’t wanna embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year so even by your own metrics that doesn’t work.”

Ending on an inspirational note, the rapper said,  “Just in life, you gotta keep showing up, forget the Grammys, you gotta keep showing up. Until they give you all those accolades you think you deserve, until they call you a chairman, until they call you a genius, until they call you the greatest of all time. You feel me?”

Blue, who celebrated her 12th birthday on January 7, is a Grammy winner herself, receiving her first trophy at 9 years old.
