On Tuesday’s episode of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,” Yandy Smith-Harris found herself at the center of a discussion involving her eggs.
Aptly titled “Eggs-istential Crisis,” the episode showcased a candid conversation about egg donation that left viewers on the edge of their seats.
The bombshell dropped when Yandy’s cousin, Kisha, announced that Yandy would be donating her eggs to help Kisha overcome infertility. This revelation caught Yandy’s husband, Mendeecees, completely off guard, leading to a tense exchange that played out during a children’s party.
“I have been suffering from infertility. I just want to say thank you to my sister, who is going to help me along my journey of conceiving. She’s going to donate her eggs,” Kisha revealed.
Mendeecees, clearly uncomfortable with the public disclosure, voiced his concerns. “I thought we were off that. I thought we had this conversation. Why are we talking about donating eggs at a kids’ birthday party? I didn’t want the kids to know this at all. This sounds like a circus,” he exclaimed.
Amid the heated discussion, Mendeecees posed a question to the gathered crowd, “Do you know if Yandy gives Kisha her eggs, that’s Yandy’s child?”
To provide context for the viewers, it’s essential to understand the process of egg donation. Typically, donated eggs are fertilized in a laboratory setting, using either the intended father’s sperm or donor sperm.
The resulting embryo is then transferred to the recipient mother or gestational carrier, who carries the pregnancy and gives birth to the child.
It’s important to note, however, that while the egg donor contributes genetically, she does not have a biological connection in terms of gestation or being the birth mother.
Yandy and Mendeecees have two children together, a daughter named Skylar and a son named Omare. Additionally, the couple has an adopted daughter named Infinity Gilyard. Mendeecees also has three kids from previous relationships.
