NBA star Dwight Howard has just scored a major victory in the on-going custody battle with ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Render. The 38-year-old former NBA player has been granted primary custody of his 13-year-old daughter, Layla Lo’Ren Howard.
While the pair will still share joint legal custody, a judge has issued a temporary order giving Howard primary custody, with Render having visitation rights. The decision comes after Howard filed a petition ten months ago to strip Render of custody, citing several reasons.
One key factor was Render’s relocation from Georgia to Florida without informing Howard, which led to issues regarding access to their daughter and discussions about her schooling.
Additionally, Howard raised concerns about Layla’s TikTok videos, describing them as “inappropriate” with sexually suggestive content. He also accused Render of exploiting their child by featuring her on Render’s reality show and claimed an inability to maintain a healthy home environment
Render denied all allegations, asserting that Howard was aware of the planned move to Florida. She requested the judge dismiss Howard’s petition and maintain the original custody arrangement.
However, after hearing testimonies and reviewing evidence, the judge ruled in favor of Howard, stating that primary custody should change immediately for the best interest of the minor child.
In addition to awarding primary custody to Howard, the judge also terminated Howard’s $3k per month child support obligations. However, the basketball free agent will have to pay $3k to cover Render’s travel expenses.
A new hearing will take place in May of this year for the judge to make a final judgement in the case.
Despite rumors suggesting Howard may have more than five children, he maintains that he has five kids named Braylon, Jayde, Layla, David, and Trey or Dwight III. The respective mothers of Howard’s children are Melissa Rios, Royce Reed, Christine Vest, Hope Alexa, and Tiffany Render.
