As anticipation builds for the debut of “The Barnes Bunch,” a reality show featuring former NBA player Matt Barnes and his blended family on We tv,, one key figure is expressing reservations. Barnes’ ex-wife, Gloria Govan, is raising concerns about her portrayal on the show and the extent to which their children will be involved in front of the cameras.
The former Basketball Wives star expressed her concerns in a recent motion that was filed in court regarding alleged unpaid child support for her 14-year-old twins, Carter and Isaiah, with whom she shares with Barnes.
Per documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Govan is claiming that Barnes owes her $267,000 and wants him to cover her legal fees.
In the filing, Govan states that Barnes “is retired from the NBA, has extensive savings, a luxurious lifestyle and likely earns well over $1.5 million per year even after retirement. He is likely to have extensive savings and investment accounts.”
She continued her statement saying that, “I have tried to settle this matter with [Barnes]. His counteroffer made it clear he is not living in reality. Furthermore, he has refused to pay the court-ordered support, even though we have already had litigation and he is well aware that there is no agreement to reduce support.”
Govan also claimed in her filing that Barnes has a temper and that she is afraid of him becoming angry because he has been abusive to her in the past.
“Although Matt has not of recent times been as abusive towards me as he has in the past, I do believe that by filing this [motion], he will revert back to the bully he has so often been, and he will threaten or try to extort me as he has in the past.”
Barnes’ “volatile personality” is the reason that the 38-year-old fears retribution from the retired NBA player via his upcoming television series.
“I am especially concerned that if Matt gets angry, that some of this will be displayed on the reality show The Barnes Bunch that he has been filming for a season, and which is filming again now,” she said. “I had originally only agreed to our boys being included only on a limited basis, but Matt went beyond our agreement.”
Govan concluded, “I therefore wish to have a written order that requires our agreement to have the boys involved in a reality show, whether Matt’s or one that I am potentially going to be filming.”
As the legal battle unfolds, Barnes has yet to respond to Govan’s motion. With “The Barnes Bunch” scheduled to debut in 2024, the public can expect more developments in this contentious situation between the former couple
