Former NBA player Matt Barnes and model Anansa Sims celebrated their son Ashton Barnes’ 5th birthday on Friday. The couple took to Instagram to express their love and gratitude for the little one, describing him as a gift from God.
In a joint statement, they wrote, “Prince Ashton, You are a gift from God. You are kind, funny, looney, loving, wild, caring, athletic, smart and wise beyond your little years.”
They continued, “Since the day you were born you lit up all of our lives with light, love and laughter. Never a dull moment when you’re awake lol. Happy 5th Birthday Baby Boy! We Love You!”
The celebration extended beyond the Instagram post, as the couple threw their son a birthday party fit for their little prince.
Sharing photos on instagram, they captioned, “Happy 5th Birthday to our Baby Boy Ashton!!! Love your Family Mommy, Daddy, Isaiah, Carter, Ava, David & Dean,” they added.
Anansa Sims and Matt Barnes welcomed their son Ashton Joseph Barnes on December 8, 2018. In addition, Anansa shares a daughter Ava Brielle Patterson,12, and two sons David Bernard Patterson III,11, and Dean Danny Benjamin Patterson,9, with her ex-husband David Patterson.
Meanwhile, Matt Barnes parents twin sons, Carter and Isaiah, with ex-partner Gloria Govan. The proud father recently celebrated a significant milestone as the twin boys graduated from the 8th grade.
“14yrs later & you’re off to high school!! Words can’t express how proud I am of you two,” the proud dad wrote. “Continue moving w honor, morals, principles & respect as you guys navigate this nxt chapter. Love you two w all my heart @carterbarnes35 @zaybarnes30.”
Barnes finalized his divorce with Govan in 2016 after nearly two years of marriage. In 2022, he proposed to his longtime girlfriend and the mother of his child, Anansa Sims.
