Ashanti and Nelly are reportedly expecting their first child together, US Weekly reports. While the baby will be Ashanti’s first, Nelly already has two kids — daughter Chanelle, 29, and son Cornell Haynes III, 24 — from his relationship with ex Channetta Valentine.
“Nelly and Ashanti are welcoming their first baby together,” a source exclusively tells Us.
The speculation surrounding Ashanti’s pregnancy began to circulate over the weekend when the couple attended Nelly’s Black and White Ball. During a moment on stage, both artists placed their hands on Ashanti’s stomach, triggering a wave of excitement among fans. A fan video captured the joyous occasion, with the couple breaking into laughter, seemingly confirming the happy news.
The pair rekindled their romance earlier this year with Nelly confirming the relationship in September during an interview on Philo TV’s “Boss Moves with Rasheeda.
“Yeah, we cool again,” he said, sharing that the rekindled romance “surprised both of us though. It wasn’t anything that I don’t think was planned.”
The couple went Instagram official in October when Nelly shared a heartfelt birthday tribute to Ashanti.
“One time for the birthday girl,” he captioned a carousel of photos showing himself and Ashanti smiling. “Such a beautiful, an incredible person inside and out and one of the hardest working women. I know.. @ashanti Enjoy your day Ma you look awesome!!!! Happy Birthday Love ya!!!!”
In November, Ashanti surprised Nelly with a car and a party for his birthday. She wrote on Instagram, “Happy Birthday Bighead!!! One of the kindest, most genuine men I’ve ever met.. You have such a big heart and are ALWAYS giving to others Today is YOUR day!!! Love u! Happy Birthday. well Nov 2nd…. You know I be a lil late…. We had a LOT going on!”
