Trojan fans are about to get just what they wanted for Christmas as their star freshman player, Bronny James, has been fully cleared to return to the court!
“Bronny James is now cleared by his doctors for a full return to basketball,” the James family announced in a recent statement. “Bronny will have a final evaluation with USC staff this week, resume practice next week, and return to games soon after. The James family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible medical team, the entire USC community, and especially the countless friends, family, and fans for their love and support. Fight On!”
The exciting news comes just five months after the young athlete suffered a cardiac arrest during one of his first practices with his new team at USC.
As a result of his cardiac arrest in July, the teen was officially diagnosed with “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect,” causing him to have to sit out for the season until now.
Even though the eldest son of the NBA Los Angeles Lakers legendary player, LeBron James, has not been on the court, he has been right there front-and center cheering on his teammates.
On October 19th, the USC star recruit danced and celebrated with his team as they kicked-off another basketball season with their annual “Trojan HoopLA.” Then, the 19-year-old sat on the sideline at the sold out season opener, on November 6, as the Trojans defeated Kansas State 89-69.
Not only was James present, cheering his team on to victory, but his mother and younger brother were also present as well.
“It’s very important to us to show support to all of the kids, and obviously Bronny is not playing tonight, but we wanted to show support to the rest of the young men who have worked all summer to get ready for this point,” Savannah James told the Associated Press at the time.
