Kel Mitchell, along with his wife Asia Lee and their kids Wisdom and Honor, attended the world premiere of Good Burger 2 in New York City on November 14, 2023.
The event follows a “genuinely frightening” health scare for the actor while he was out shopping on November 7th. Mitchell took to social media a couple days after the incident to update his concerned fans.
He wrote, “The scare was real, but so was the support. With the grace of God and the skill of the medical team, I’m now on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family Your kindness has been a lifeline, and I can’t thank you each enough. Much love to each of you.”
In a subsequent Instagram video over the weekend, Kel elaborated on the incident, revealing that he experienced dizziness while shopping, followed by numbness in the right side of his arm and leg, and difficulty swallowing.
“I was out shopping when suddenly the whole room started spinning,” he explained. “So, I was like, ‘I must be dehydrated so I need to go get some water, some food.’ When I did that, the whole right side of my arm and my leg was numb, followed by me not being able to swallow. And that’s when I panicked.”
After driving himself to the hospital, he discovered that the symptoms were attributed to “a bulging disc that I had from a prior injury that was pressing up against a nerve.”
Despite his health setback, Kel Mitchell is gearing up for the release of Good Burger 2, which will start streaming on November 22. The film, which is a sequel to the 1997 Paramount movie Good Burger, reunites Mitchell’s character, Ed, with Keenan Thompson’s Dexter at the iconic fast-food restaurant.
