On Sunday, at 3 pm EST, one of the most highly sought-after top high school basketball recruits from the class of 2024 will make her college decision. Me’Arah O’Neal, daughter of legendary Los Angeles Lakers player and entrepreneur Shaquille O’Neal, will choose her college pick live on the SportsCenter Next Instagram account this Sunday!

O’Neal is the No. 33 national prospect in her class, and is being sought after by some of the most elite basketball programs in the country: Arizona State, Baylor, UCLA, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU and Tennessee.
At 6-foot-4, the Episcopal High School Houston, TX senior, is unquestionably going to be an asset to whichever school she chooses. However, “Meezy” says that she’s “no special kid,” just because she is the daughter of the famed basketball legend. She will let her own talent speak for itself on the court.
“I’m pretty sure a lotta people expect me to play just like my dad. Strong, big post player, runnin’ through people, what Shaq does. But I’m not that,” Me’Arah said recently in an interview with ESPN. She continued saying that, “The biggest expectation is to turn out like my dad. But fulfilling that name, that’s not really my goal. … I just wanna be my own person and make a name for myself. And I think I’m doing that pretty well.”
Although proud of all of his children and their decisions to follow in his footsteps on the basketball court, Shaq himself said in the same interview that he never really pushed his children to make basketball a career.
“I’m the type that I don’t really push it on ’em,” Shaquille said. “I always wanted them to just be able to follow their dreams and be very, very educated.”

Meezy is the youngest of Shaq’s children. Shaquille O’Neal is father to six children kids that include four that are following in his footsteps.
