Mariah Carey’s daughter, Monroe, is proving to be a musical talent just like her mother.
According to Carey, Monroe has inherited her iconic high notes and has a real gift for singing. In a recent exclusive interview, Carey expressed her pride at her daughter’s ability, hoping that she does indeed “follow in her footsteps.”
“I think my daughter is rehearsing more than me so I think she might have it together a little more than I do!’ Mariah joked with Good Morning America host Juju Chang in an exclusive interview with the singer.
Chang went on to ask the “Emotions” singer, “Does your daughter have the octave whistle?”
To which Carey replied, “I think she kind of has it, I think she just has to play with it.”
The 12-year-old gave the world a preview of her tremendous talent in December of last year when she and the “Queen of Christmas” did their first duet on stage in Toronto, flawlessly entertaining the audience with a perfect rendition of “Away in a Manger”.
Fans should get ready to see it all again as Carey is about to kick-off her Merry Christmas One and All! tour on November 15th and both Monroe her twin brother Moroccan will join her on stage during her performances.
“They just know so many things and they’re like on top of everything,” the songstress told ET in a recent interview. They’re gonna be coming around the country with me and doing their thing, and I’m excited to watch them.”
The “Fantasy” singer’s tour wraps up with eight days to spare before her favorite holiday. Carey plans on spending that time in Aspen with her children and friends, eagerly awaiting Santa’s arrival. While exchanging gifts is a given, there is one holiday tradition in particular that Carey is looking forward to: preparing her father’s signature clam linguini dish.
“They haven’t learned the recipe yet, but they know about it and it’s really special to me because it’s my father’s recipe for my favorite dish that he used to make when I was little,”
Carey’s tour will officially kick-off on November 15, ending on December 17 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The “All I Want For Christmas Is You” singer shares her twins with multi-hyphenated entertainer, Nick Cannon.
